What is self storage?
Self Storage is becoming an increasingly popular trend in the UK. The concept is simple, we have space available to store your goods and free up space at your home or workplace. You are the only person who has access to your container and you can access it any time during our opening hours (7am-10pm 7 days a week). We offer short term and long term contracts with a minimum of one month’s hire.
How does self storage work at Tumax?
At Tumax we currently have two sizes of storage container available: 20ft 1200 cu ft and 10ft 600 cu ft.
As a rough guide our 10ft container would hold the contents of a small flat or the contents of a Transit Luton style van. Our 20ft container would hold the contents of a well packed 3 bedroom house or the contents of 2 Transit Luton style vans.
What makes Tumax secure enough to store my goods?
At Tumax we have 24/7 CCTV and our premises are surrounded by security fencing. Our electric gates are kept closed with access to our site only granted to our customers.
How much space do I need?
How much space you need will depend on how much you are looking to store, talk to one of our experts today and once we have assessed your needs we can find the right form of storage for you. We have the flexibility to offer more or less storage if there is a change in your circumstances.
Will I need my own padlock?
No, you’ll be supplied by us with your own high-security padlock which you are then responsible for.
How long can I use my self storage container for?
We have a minimum rental period of one month, after that the storage container can be used for as long as you require.
How quickly can I move in?
As long as you have completed the self storage licence agreement and provided us with the required forms of ID, you can move in straight away!
What do I need to open an account?
When opening your account with us we will require you to read and sign our self storage licence agreement which covers both you and us. We will also require to take photocopies of two forms of ID: one photographic form of ID to prove your identity (either a passport or driving licence) and an additional form of ID to prove your address (eg a recent utility bill from within the last 3 months).
Your details will be kept securely on file until the termination of your contract with us.
What kind of payment methods are available?
Most of our customers pay via direct debit each month. We would also accept payment via credit or debit cards. Please contact us in advance if you wish to pay in cash as this can also be arranged.
How do I get my goods to you?
You can bring your goods along and drive right up to your container in order to load and unload your goods. We have ample space and parking.
Alternatively, we offer an additional service where our friendly driver can collect your goods in our van and bring them to your container then deliver them back to you when you need them. Please contact us for more information about the cost of this service.
How do I access my goods?
You will have access to your goods any time between 7am and 10pm 7 days a week. Only you will have access to your container so you will have full responsibility for ensuring it is secured when you are not there.
Do you have a forklift available to lift heavy items?
We have a Hyster forklift and a fully-trained driver who can help load and unload heavier items in and out of your storage container.
Are there any items which I can’t store?
Unfortunately we are not able to store perishable, inflammable, explosive or toxic substances under any circumstances.
